Fab February Find #9

Can you say Tignanello? Tignanello (pronounced Tan-ya-nell-o or Teen-ya-nell-o) is a brand that I'd never heard of until I spotted the Bespoke on Poshmark and had to have it. Apparently they've been around for a very long time, making some of the most classic handbags I've ever seen. And you guys should know by now that I'm all about classic looks. These bags you can have engraved and personalized if you buy straight from the site www.tignanello.com. This is the bag I bought on Poshmark. I couldn't find this color on the site (making sure I was getting a good deal), but I think the fact that I can't find this red makes it all the more unique.

Tignanello handbags are genuine leather and as I said earlier, if purchased from the site, can be personalized. The Bespoke (Polished Pockets style) is originally $169. They are having a sale on the Bespoke for $99. I paid $75 for mine on Poshmark! That's just shy of $100 off the original cost of an authentic Tignanello.

Here's one in purple, which is also unavailable online.

Paisley & Kelly

Paisley and Kelly Green that is! Afternoon Chica's :) I'm especially excited about this outfit because I made the skirt myself. When I saw this print in the fabric store, I had to have it. I don't have anything else paisley in my closet, so it was no-brainer.

I paired the skirt with my fave kelly green cardi and a black shirt and tights. Some gold jewelry and buckled cognac boots finished the look.

The skirt cost around $5 to make and took about 30-40 minutes to sew. What do you think ladies?

Black Shirt - Old Navy
Gold Chain - Thrifted
Tights - WalMart
Boots - Sears

Grammy Favorites

Morning Chica's! So, last night was Grammy night and the stars came out in their best... or worst, while the rest, didn't know what the heck to wear. If they needed a stylist, I could have helped. I tried not to focus on the negatives as much as the positive because there were several looks that I adored on the red carpet and off. So let's just dive right in with my faves!

Favorite #1: Adele is wearing Valentino and to be honest, I'm so glad that she chose to wear the shorter version, because the original would've been overwhelming for her figure. I love the color on Adele and these shoes are to die for, so cute.

Here she shows off an elegant tattoo of her son's initial... but I'm looking at her earrings. #vintage

Kelly Rowland, hats off to you because this dress is ridiculously gorgeous on you. I love the laser cutouts. This dress in any other color might not be so hot, but Ms. Rowland definitely rocked this Georges Chakra gown.

And surprisingly, I loved Solange Knowles emerald green Ralph & Russo Couture gown with the high split and train. The jury's still out about the choice of color for the shoes, but I think her hair looks fabulous and this dress flatters her. Love the shoulder detail of the dress.

Equally as stunning in this look. I'm a sucker for black and white, so I liked Beyonce in this jumpsuit by Osman Yousefzada, a young British designer. I just wish there was a pop of color, but that's just me. I love surprises!

Jennifer Lopez wearing Anthony Vaccarello... I love her shoes, clutch, and accessories! I want all those piece in my closet, but I can't decide whether I love it or hate it only because it's so plain for J. Lo. What do you think Chica's? Classically beautiful or boring black?

I like this look on Estelle, the pattern works for me and the colors against her skin tone are flattering.

Am I the only one who wants Janelle Monae to wear some color? She does rock the red lip tho :) #covergirl

Tyrese, Tyrese, Tyrese! You know you look good in this suit! Need I say more?

NOW, FOR THE "OTHERS"....

You guys know I love yellow and I don't mind the yellow suit so much as I mind the blue shirt and hideous headband Frank Ocean wore for this performance.

I think that on the runway this dress is okay at best. But Florence Welch seems to be channeling something out of the Avatar movie in this iridescent dress by Givenchy. #alien I don't like it at all.

Last but not least...

What the hell were you thinking Nadeea?! #icant lol

Fab February Find #8

I would be remissed if I didn't show off one of my most expensive pieces of costume jewelry. I can wear this piece with virtually anything and whatever I'm wearing is immediately jacked up like 10 notches, no lie. A white tee and jeans become more than a white tee and jeans with these bobbles around my neck.

I paid $50 for this, but I was able to put it on layaway and pay small increments of the purchase price at my leisure. You could say, I got the hook up lol

Blizzard Nemo

Have I mentioned that I hate snow? Well, Mother Nature decided to pay it forward or pay us back rather for the last several mild winters we've been blessed to have. This, however, is a monstrous amount of snow and such a headache to deal with that I had to take pictures and show you. There's a little mountain outside of my side porch that's just ridiculous. Check out the aftermath of Nemo! Happy Sunday, btw :)

Stay warm and safe,
A GeekChicChica

Fab February Find #7

This piece was actually a Christmas gift from my grandmother. For some reason, I am in love with sound of it Lol.

The light gray sheer fabric is adorned with these aluminum "coins" that give the shawl weight, but doesn't make it hard to wear.

It reminds me of something I saw on a cart at the mall with other jewelry that I love.

The great thing about this piece is that it doubles as a shawl/scarf and as jewelry.

Fab February Find #6

Fab February Find #6 is this over-sized cocktail ring. Nabbed from Claire's for $10.50, the dark grey rhinestone makes you feel rich. The rhinestone accompanied by the detail on the sides definitely makes the ring glamorous. I wouldn't trade this for any other ring. It's easily my favorite!

Fab February Find #5

Afternoon Chica's! It's cold here (South of Boston), expecting 1-2' of snow this weekend, but I'm just trying to stay warm and keep up with homework. I apologize for my late updates, but here is Fab February Find #5.

These vintage gold earrings have become a staple with my outfits. Whenever the outfit doesn't call for a necklace, these gold link earrings always come through; giving each look a bit of elegance.

I spotted these at a Salvation Army thrift store and had to add them to my collection of costume jewelry.  At $1.98, I'd say they're worth it!

Sincerely,
A GeekChicChica

My Obsession

PoshMark is my new obsession! PoshMark is a nifty online community that lets you shop and sell* some of the  most chic clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories from closets across the country. It's like Pintrest, Twitter and eBay all in one, but with "layaway". Some sellers will reserve items for you.

The only downside to PoshMark is that I'm not an iPhone user... yet, which you have to be in order to sell. But if you're not selling, you're more than welcome to buy. I'm a die-hard PoshMarker! I've scored a couple good deals and reserved a few things until payday. Check them out and we can all be obsessed!

Would you believe that even though I currently have nothing in my closet, I have almost 350 followers! Don't me the odd chica out. Follow my closet ---> coming soon! https://poshmark.com/closet/heatherlorryn <---

Ledisi Bangs!

G'day Chica's! I was definitely chanelling soulful songstress, Ledisi, when I was styling my hair for dress-down Superbowl Sunday. Although my hair isn't natural enough to get the volume that she has, I feel this style is definitely inspired by her.

I love this lady! She's so beautiful and super talented. So, it's no mystery why I'm diggin her style. What do you think? Should I go bigger with the hair??? I'm not afraid to bigger. I've desperately been looking for some unique styles that I can do in the morning before school that look super chic, but are simple.

As for my outfit, I love this wool hot pink blazer that I thrifted a few months ago. I threw on my cream and navy striped shirt, some dark wash jeans, and cognac boots with a matching clutch. Gold accessories give this look a little more bang. No pun intended ;-)

Stay tuned for more hair experiments. Haha :-)

Sincerely,
A GeekChicChica

Check out this short video montage of Ledisi. Enjoy!

Beckham & Her Birkin

Victoria Beckham is easily one of the classiest celebrities in the media. Her style is classic and sexy. I'm all about classic, timeless style you can wear at any age.

VB definitely rocks it in this white belted jacket while toting a deep red Hermes Birkin. Don't let me find a jacket like this because I will definitely be copy-catting this look. I recently reserved a Tignanello bag in this color off PoshMark (ordering this weekend).

Anywho, I read somewhere that Birkin's weren't "cool" anymore. Whatever! Birkin's are a status symbol, they don't go out of style. Even though only the more wealthy are able to afford them, there are definitely "inspired" (replica) Birkin's that look just as great and are budget-friendly. Authentic Birkin's run anywhere from $5,000 to $12,000 or more.

I suggest that since the Birkin is a very well known handbag you should search for something that is not a replica, but a true inspiration like this handbag from shoedazzle.com. If you don't care that it's a replica, eBay or PoshMark is a good place to start shopping around for a decent price.

Sincerely,
A GeekChicChica

Fab February Find #4

Fab February Find #4

I was surfing PoshMark... yet again, when I came across this hot pink wristlet clutch. I had already told the seller that I wanted a white summer dress from Gap she was selling (which will be styled in a later blog post), then I added this to the bundle. I got both for $20! I'd say that was a pretty sweet deal considering the never-worn Gap dress was $60 retail. I made out like a bandit.

The clutch has a leather-like texture that makes it feel more luxurious and easy to dress up or down. It's the perfect size for a wallet, cell phone, lip balm, and mini-Altoids (which I can't live without btw), etc.

Love it!

My Heart Races for a Speedy!

Morning Chica's! So my latest obsession is the Louis Vuitton Speedy. I don't know what it is about this handbag, the 35 in particular, that I just adore, but I am completely and totally obsessed. It's timeless! It's classic! And I want to make it mine! My heart literally races when I see this and I promise you, I will have one before the year is over :) I deserve it, right? Haha. If there's one thing I love more than shoes, it's definitely handbags and this one... while temporarily in my dreams is destined to end up in my closet.

Sincerely,
A GeekChicChica

Fab February Find #3

After wearing 4" heels all day, it's nice to have a pair of chic flats to run errands in. I picked these up for $10 and I adore them.

These are a sort of black suede material, great for fall weather. The chunky, gold chain detail is very classy.

I have only been able to wear these a few times on account of the snow and cold weather lately, but I love them. Every heel-wearing diva out there should carry a pair of flats and these are a cute, affordable choice for the fall.

Fab February Find #2

Fab February Find #2: Found this at Fashion Bug while they were having a super sale because the store is closing. I loved the color and the chunkiness of it and so I decided, I had to have it. It looks great with a white tee btw. I paid a little under $6 for it on a BOGO deal.

How would you wear this Chica's?

Sincerely,
A GeekChicChica

A Jean Safari

Evening Chica's! It's been a long day. One full of exciting activites, but TGIF! I was going through my outfits and ended up playing dress up... yet again. This is one of the outfits I put together. I call it: A Jean Safari.

I am so in love with this afro-centric wooden necklace that I snagged for just under two bucks at the thrift store. I've had this olive/army green shirt (Old Navy) for a couple years. I threw on some dark wash skinnies and because I was inside, I didn't have to worry about a blazer or sweater or even a fall/winter shoe.

The clutch can also be used as a crossbody/messenger bag that is great for quick errands and light traveling.

The whole outfit gave me a very earthy feeling, hence the title "A Jean Safari". What do you think Chica's?

Sincerely,
A Geek Chic Chica

PS. Sorry about the late post Chica's :)

Good Luck Chica's!!!

6 Looks, 2 Hooks

The Simple Single
Morning Chica's! This is quite possibly one of my more creative ideas for a blog and it wasn't one of those times where I sat and brainstormed, "What can I write about???" It happened totally by accident and out of a momentary need.

I was getting dressed for church a couple Sunday's ago and the outfit that I wore, I knew that I wanted to wear gold jewelry to set off the cream, black and kelly green. I immediately thought of this necklace (pictured left), but it was the wrong shape for my outfit... too ordinary.

My other chunky necklace was too chunky for the details of the cream peplum top I was wearing. I fiddled with the necklace in the mirror for a few minutes... and there they were! Hooks.

I don't think I ever been so excited about something so small, but the idea was genius. I just hooked one of the hooks to the chain and created what I call "The Simple Y" (below).

The Simple Y
I thought to myself... I wonder how many different ways I can wear the necklace which by the way was intended to be the strap for a purse that I wear as a clutch. These hooks were amaze-balls!

Check out the rest of the ways I styled this gold chain! Two hooks, six looks.

Fab February Find #1

I have dedicated the entire month of February, yes all 28 days, to showcasing some of the fabulous finds and thrifted treasures in my closet or soon-to-be. Initially, I wanted to thrift every day this month, but a student's budget has not allowed me that luxury. I'll still be thrifting items this month, but not every day. This is Fab Feb Find #1:

Faux Elephant Tusk Necklace - Old Navy $10.50
