Skirt Dress Revisited

So, I decided to actually wear this as a skirt :) With an airy, bright canary yellow v-neck sweater, I threw on a wide belt to give the skirt a high-waisted look. I paired it with my purple patent-leather open-toe wedges and a black Birkin-style handbag (that's for sale in my poshmark closet, fyi). I love how I felt in this outfit and will definitely be wearing it again.

Sincerely,
A GeekChicChica

Kelly Cognac Polka Dots

Morning Chica's! It's almost spring right? Well, it doesn't matter either way to me because I love bright colors. Today's outfit is the very essence of that. I can't wait for spring so I've already started :)

I paired my blue polka dot dress with a kelly green cardigan and chandelier necklace. I threw on my cognac boots for comfort, but also because they are a neutral shoe.

I am loving the result! What do you think?

Pretty In Pleats

Afternoon Chica's! I am super in love with this blue vintage a-line skirt I thrifted. I paired it with my black sheer top and gold accessories. The pleats and the length of the skirt made me feel almost like I was transported back into the Victorian era, but with a modern edge.

There's not much else to say except that I will definitely be wearing it a lot more with different tops. Check out the other outfit that I put together with this pleated skirt (below) for a lighter feel.

Sincerely,
A GeekChicChica

Fab February Find #23

I found this vintage bib necklace while thrifting. It's a cream and smokey blue color. I don't know what the material is, but the blue remind of me small pieces of slate, which give the necklace a very cool and rustic feel.

$0.99 Chica's!

Vintage 80s Skirt Dress

Chica's, this is my outfit from yesterday. I found this vintage skirt from the 80's... yes, I said skirt... at the thrift store, but it was way too long for my frame. The length made me look short, but I bought the skirt anyway, thinking "oh I'll just hem it to the length I want."

I got home and remembered that I lent my sewing machine to my mother... bad hit! So, as I'm standing in the mirror, trying on different things with the skirt. I pulled it all the way up to see what it would look like shorter.

It looked exactly like what I wanted and even had a hi-lo effect that you see on trendy dresses and skirts. Then it hit me!

Just wear it as a skirt dress! So I did :) I added a belt for some structure and to break up the print. I paired it with tights, boots and a cropped 3/4 sleeve cardigan.

Sincerely,
A GeekChicChica

Geek Chic Specs

I love geek specs. There are so many different shapes, colors and patterns that it's virtually impossible to not find a pair... or several pair that suit you. I like to have fun with them and a little secret... They make you feel smarter! Lol.

You can't be a geek chic chica unless you've snagged a pair of geek specs to accompany your outfits! I personally have three pair and looking for more shapes and colors.

The first pair (left) are vintage, thrifted of course...  I think they were $0.99. These are also reading glasses, which I needed anyway.

My second pair of geek specs I found on ebay for $3.96. They were the largest I could find without lenses.

And last but not least, the pair I wear the most :) There were formerly a cheap pair of sunglasses that I got at my cousins wedding (a treat in one of my daughter's goodie bags). I just popped out the dark lenses and put them on... haven't parted ways with them yet!

Which pair do you like???

Sincerely,
A GeekChicChica

Fab February Find #10 & #11

Chica's, I know I've been slacking on my daily Fab Finds. Life gets in the way of my blogiberty (blog+liberty = blogiberty) :) Here are a few new additions to my jewelry collection:

While out thrifting today, I stumbled upon a new thrift store near the mall called Chic2Chic. Everything in this store is under $5... EVERYTHING! All the items I got today were only $1 each!

Fab February Find #5

Afternoon Chica's! It's cold here (South of Boston), expecting 1-2' of snow this weekend, but I'm just trying to stay warm and keep up with homework. I apologize for my late updates, but here is Fab February Find #5.

These vintage gold earrings have become a staple with my outfits. Whenever the outfit doesn't call for a necklace, these gold link earrings always come through; giving each look a bit of elegance.

I spotted these at a Salvation Army thrift store and had to add them to my collection of costume jewelry.  At $1.98, I'd say they're worth it!

Sincerely,
A GeekChicChica
